Topic: Is there such a thing as an “obesity gene”?

Title:  “I’m Only Fat Because My Parents are Fat”

Introduction: Introduction to topic, obesity gene. Defining my thoughts of what it’s said to be then using its formal scientific definition. Refute that it exists. Rebuttal can include the topic of epigenetics. Leave the audience with a want to read more whether boringly interesting or creatively interesting. Just make it interesting.

Paragraph 1: Don’t get into epigenetics AT ALL!!! Talk about obesity and the statistics using logos.  Analyze the data found. Talk about the “obesity gene” and use an article or two that is “for” there being such a thing as the obesity gene. Make sure analysis is not too vague but not too dense. Last sentence should correlate with EPIGENETICS so that it can flow well

Paragraph 2:  Get boring and talk about how the body works with genes. All that good stuff about energy.

Paragraph 3: Talk about Epigenetics now. Use articles that explain the importance of this topic. How does it refute the obesity gene stance? Who can be blamed for this problem

Paragraph 4: Affect on children, how is it a social determinant? Are they more self-conscious, less insecure? Possible effects.

Conclusion: What has to be changed? Talk about resources that should be set in stone. How can a community work together? What can parents change for themselves and their families? Establish your stance. Is it just an excuse?
